Family: Spirea – Rosaceae
Habitat: Creamy, perennial of damp waysides, meadows, marshes and woods, this tall, hairless plant flowers throughout Ireland from June to September.
Uses: Meadowsweet’s herbal uses had a base in scientific fact, in common with many other folk and herbal remedies. The parts that grow above the ground are used to make medicine. Can be used for colds, bronchitis, upset stomach, heartburn, peptic ulcer disease, and joint disorders including gout and also used as a disinfectant.
