This year’s theme offered another great opportunity to celebrate a dimension of our heritage. In keeping with the theme, Ballinacree Historical Society has chosen to submit a project that will focus on our natural heritage and explore the topic of local wild flowers. The dozens of wildflowers in the area are often unnoticed and their names are not widely known. Many have already flowered since early spring and are once again gone to sleep for another year. But there are still many around at this time of year in the fields and hedges, along undisturbed roadsides, in the woods, in marshy areas and in the bogs.
Ballinacree Historical Society invited people of all ages to take part in this really fascinating project. They submitted their ideas to: ballinacree.history@gmail.com.
