Ballinacree Heritage Room and Woollen Mills
Ballinacree Woollen Mills opened in 1848 during the famine. It was managed by Joseph Ford until 1856 when it was taken over by Henry Matthews. The Matthews family ran it until c1926 when it was closed and the machinery sold off.
Ballinacree Historical Society would like to thank John and David Wiggins for allowing access to their property during the filming of this program.
Below are adverts from the Anglo Celt, taken out by the proprietors of the Woollen Mills, advising the public who their agents were for collecting wool and orders and for the delivery of finished goods.
